Make a submission - patients, carers and the public

Your insights could make a real difference to patients in Wales. We want to hear from individuals or small groups of patients and carers, and large patient organisations.

We advise Welsh Government about whether a new medicine should be used in NHS Wales.

We assess how well a new medicine works to treat a health condition. We'll compare it with medicines that are currently used to treat that condition. We also look at how much more (or less) the new medicine costs, and find out if there's a particular group of patients who would benefit most from treatment.

Our appraisal process overview page will give you more information.

We'd like to know how a health condition affects the lives of patients and their families and carers in Wales.

Tell us about your experiences and any medicines you are, or were, taking. It's important to tell us if you feel your treatment needs are not being met.

Your insights could make a real difference to patients in Wales.

We've listed the medicines we're currently assessing on our appraisals in progress page. Please fill in our questionnaire online, or download it to fill in and email to us at awttc@wales.nhs.uk. If you'd like us to send you a copy to fill in, please contact us.

We welcome responses from patients and their families and carers, and patient organisations.

We produce resources to help patients and healthcare professionals in Wales make sure that medicines are used effectively and appropriately.

  • Patient information leaflets for patients to understand their medicines and how to take them safely.
  • Prescribing guidance for doctors to choose the best medicines for their patients.
  • Learning tools for prescribers and pharmacists to use medicines safely and effectively.
  • Reports showing patterns of medicines prescribing across Wales.

Why are your views important?

We aim to make medicines safer and more effective for patients in Wales.

Input from patients is vital, because we're aiming to improve the care and treatment that you get. We'd like to hear first-hand how a health condition and its treatments affect patients.

How will we use your comments?

  • We collect all the comments we get from a consultation and present them to the group developing the resource.
  • We address each comment and change our document accordingly, and record these changes.
  • We produce a report including all comments submitted, summarising them if appropriate. You can ask us to send you a copy of this summary report.
  • We won't publish any comments if we think they are inappropriate or unlawful.

By sending us your comments, you agree to them being used as described above.
